Rock carvings at Nämforsen

Visit Nämforsen's rock carvings in a unique environment, where the rapids, the river and the steep "nipor" create a very special experience.

Nämforsen at Näsåker is Sweden's by far largest single petroglyph site (second largest in Europe). There are at least 2,595 petroglyphs preserved here, the oldest are believed to be 6,000 years old.

The rock carving area is always open to visitors. It is only when the snow covers the carvings that they cannot be seen. During the summer, Nämforsen's Rock carving museum holds guided tours with free entry.
