Municipal council

The municipal council (kommunfullmäktige) is the highest decision-making assembly in a municipality. It is composed of public officials elected by the people every four years. The public is welcome to attend meetings of the municipal council.

  • The municipal council decides on matters such as:
  • The goals and guidelines that should govern the work of the municipality
  • The municipal budget.
  • How much tax should the residents of the municipality pay
  • Which boards there should be, and how work should be divided among them


The municipal council also elects:

  • Members and deputy members of the Municipal Executive Board, other boards, committees and delegations.
  • Auditors to audit the operations of the municipality


The municipal council of Sollefteå consists of 45 members, and generally meets once a month. These meetings are open to the public and are also broadcast on local radio, as well as on the municipal website.
