* What is a nipa?
More than 23000 years ago the entire area of Scandinavia was covered by the great inland-ice.
With the arrival of a warmer period, the ice began to melt.

A new period began when the river valley with its enormous delta stratum consisting of sand and finer material began to rise from the sea.

As the land rose up the river “dug" into its own stratum. That in its turn led to the formation of steep silty riverbanks and the creation of a unique landscape. Those formations are called nipa or nipor.
